Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6" Display, U.S. & International Wireless, Latest Generation) (Model:D00701)

I've had my new kindle for less than 24 hours and I absolutley LOVE it!

My reading has really slacked off lately and I think this kindle is going to completely change that. Here are the things I love about it so far:

* I usually have several books going at one time with them all scatterred about the house in different places. The kindle allows me to have all my books in one place. No more searching for the book or even remembering exactly which books I have started. They are all right there on my kindle home page.

* Being able to adjust the font size is GREAT. I noticed last night when I was reading in bed I had to jump it up one size because my eyes were tired and the lighting was dimmer.

* It is so comfortable to hold. You don't have to worry about the book closing on you. And hitting the next page button is so easy. It's right where it needs to be.

* No more little sticky notes marking my place in a book. When you stop reading, kindle remembers where you were automatically. So no problem if you fall asleep with it in your hand.

* Beaing able to read Chapter 1 for free is awesome. However, this will probably cost me a lot of money. :) I've already purchased 3 books in less than 24 hours.

* The fact that your samples and purchases are just automatically wirelessly downloaded to your kindle is so nice. No hassling with USB ports or synching up the device. It's just there right after your purchase.

* I like the little Location indicator at the bottom which tells you what percentage complete you are. It's kinda motivating seeing that you're at 80% complete.

* It's way easier to read than a computer screen.

* It fits right in my purse.


The only thing I miss about having the actual book is that it a little difficult to tell exactly where you are in the book. Like if I want to take a break from reading, I will usually finish the major section that I'm in. With kindle, it's hard to tell if you are at the end of a major section or even at the end of a chapter. Of course, I think as I use it more, I'll get more used to it. For example, I haven't even used the Table of Contents buttons yet.

Well, thats enough for now. I'm starting to sound like a kindle sales person. This is the very first review I've ever written on amazon and I have to say it's just because I LOVE this product so much. I wish I could afford to get one for each of my family members for Christmas!

I am about to purchase a kindle for my wife for her birthday, and I was reading up on it and thought of an idea for then next version of kindles that might come out.
I saw that you can upload your mp3's to the device and listen to music while you read...pretty nifty....tho I didn't see anything about pictures...it would be neat to see there be a tripod like stand that pops out from the back and the kindle be able to show pictures like a digital picture frame when not being used.... Hey Amazon, if you like my idea, go ahead and use it....maybe send me one for free when they are available?

Kindle is wonderful! It is like carrying your favorite bookstore along with you and having instant access to ANY book you want! What a great invention!
