wth is rwrong with you people
2009-02-23
no offense people you need to stop complaining until you have used the kindle 2. the kindle 2 hasn't even been out for a few hours and you guys are complaining. until you used the kindle 2 then voice out your opinion, if not then stop cause basically all you doing is crying like a baby for no reason and have no proof or reason to back up your opinions.

Some Corrections
2009-02-23
I haven't received my Kindle yet, but I have it on order. This review is mostly in response to some of the complaining going on, and I just wanted to correct some of the things people are saying for people who might be perusing reviews.
The no back light complaint is kind of silly. If you want a back light, great, find something with a back light. Kindle promises you can read it anywhere you could read a book, and that you won't have eye strain, Back lights cause eye strain, so a back light would kind of negate the whole no eye strain thing. Also, the complaint about there being no SD card. You can delete the books and redownload them for free later, as Amazon keeps track of what you have downloaded. Also, people are talking about the $9.99 price point and how most paperbacks are cheaper. Well, a lot of Kindle books are cheaper than $9.99. For example, Harlequin romances are $3.40 or so on the Kindle. And finally, the complaints about limitations for passing around and selling the kindle books. All digital media has limitations. There aren't any outrageous limitations on the kindle books, not any that aren't on a protected PDF ebook, or on digital music. An author has to get paid for their book, and because digital media can be duplicated, some boundaries have to be set. This is about the creator of product being paid for their work. This isn't crazy, or unfair or anything. New rules have to be made regarding digital media, and if you want to use technology, you have to expect that it's going to have some different rules. I'll update this when I actually get the device. |

Thanks for reviewing the product before you got it
2009-02-23
Writing these Kindle reviews before you actually have the product to examine are great because they're more inaccurate, opinionated, subject to mistakes and illogical than if you had waited to actually try out your Kindle. These reviews have become literally a childish form of entertainment. Thanks for the jollies and the cheap thrills. I will have to recheck this page in a few days when people have actually received their Kindle's and they know whether or not they like them.
